Scope and identity

This Privacy Policy applies to the WorldFacts Android application, package com.worldfacts.explore.atlas, and this informational website. WorldFacts is independent educational software. It is not a government app, statistical authority, travel advisory, mapping service, or live time-zone service.

The offline country catalog

The app bundles 195 country profiles and flag images. Searching, filtering, reading profiles, comparing countries, viewing sources and licenses, and playing quizzes do not require an account or transmit those interactions to the developer.

Population figures are source snapshots with a displayed reference year. UTC offsets are reference data and may not reflect live daylight-saving-time changes. Source and license information is available inside the app.

Optional AI country context

AI context is optional and requires Internet access. The app asks for consent each time before making the request. If you continue, the country name and an app-written prompt requesting a short geography or pre-1900 cultural-history story are sent over HTTPS through the WorldFacts API gateway to an AI service.

The app does not include quiz answers, appearance settings, device files, contacts, identifiers you typed elsewhere, or a user-authored free-text field in that request. It does not save a history of returned AI stories.

The gateway, hosting network, and AI provider necessarily process the request and technical connection information such as IP address and timestamps to deliver and protect the service. Their security, abuse-prevention, and retention practices may apply. WorldFacts does not use AI requests for advertising or analytics.

AI text may be incomplete or mistaken. It is educational context, not an authoritative historical, political, travel, safety, or legal source.

Information kept on the device

WorldFacts stores quiz results, onboarding completion, selected countries in supported screens, and appearance preferences locally in the app's private storage. The app has no cloud sync or developer-operated user account.

Android backup or device-transfer features controlled by you and the operating system may copy eligible app data to another device or backup destination. Clearing app data or uninstalling normally removes local data from the device, subject to those backup systems.

This website

This informational site has no WorldFacts account, advertising, analytics, tracking pixel, marketing form, or app cookie. The hosting provider may process basic request information such as an IP address, browser details, requested URL, and timestamps to deliver and secure the site under its own terms.

Your choices

• Use the complete catalog, compare view, and quizzes without requesting AI context.
• Choose Cancel whenever the AI consent dialog appears.
• Clear local WorldFacts data in Android settings or uninstall the app.
• Control Android backup and device-transfer options through your device or platform account.

Security and retention

Local data is protected by Android's application sandbox. Optional AI requests use HTTPS. No transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Because the app does not maintain AI-story history, it provides no in-app export or deletion control for such a history. Local quiz data remains until app data is cleared, the app is uninstalled, or Android backup/transfer restores or removes it.

Children's privacy

WorldFacts does not knowingly build profiles about children or anyone else. The app has no user-authored AI input and is designed as general educational software. Families should supervise use according to their own circumstances.

Changes to this policy

If WorldFacts data practices change, this policy and the in-app disclosure will be updated before the related release. The effective date above identifies the current version.
